Do fujisu ductless split systems use a scroll compressor?

In my small world, all the manufacturer's are using a scroll in the mini-splits. Some have moved to inverter/variable speed technology. Mr. Slim by Mitusbishi is the big kid on the block.

Yes they use scroll compressors and inverter technology on most of their units as well. A couple of the 9k - 12k BTU systems do not have the inverter technology.

If the model # ends with RLQ or RLXQ it will use inverter technology.

As skippedover said, Mitsubishi has the largest market share in the states followed by Fujitsu. Mitsubishi has been sold here for a longer period of time than the Fujitsu.

Thank you for the response. I looked on Fujistu.com, read the install manuals and submittals, and they did not say whether or not they had scroll compressors. I have to do a quote for a customer who only wants a scroll compressor (A little knowledge is a dangerous thing in the hands of a customer...), so I thought I would put it out there.

All Daikin models use scroll inverter technology.

I have had to go through that before as well and couldn't find any info on their site either. I went to a Fujitsu class a couple of weeks ago and that is what the companies reps told us. Actually they said that some were scroll and others were rotary.

You're not going to get a recip to work the way that these compressors do, although you will have to figure out how to get your customer to understand this.

What is inverter technology?

I resemble that remark :o

When looking for a heat pump I had my heart set on a scroll. They just seem inherently more reliable and quiet. It's very irritating (as a consumer) when companies "hide" the specifics. Trane for example calls everything a Climatuff compressor irregardless of whether or not it's a scroll, a recip, made in cooperation with Copeland or made in Mexico. They build a good product so it's hard to understand why they hide the technical info behind a wall of marketing hooey.

i rather get Daikin than Mitsubishi.

because we don't get top Mitsubishi ductless split systems here. the top ductless split systems from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries

All of the smaller minis I've seen use rotaries not scrolls!

Can you explain what you mean by this as I can read it but can't understand it;-)

Cheers

All the Fujitsu Mini-splits manufactured for North America today use ROTARY compressors 9k-36kbtu The exception is the 42Kbtu unit (inverter scroll). Most are Panasonic Inverter rotary's, but a couple are normal 115v rotary's.

The older R-22 stuff was recip/rotary mix (model dependent) :)

Which systems operate off of a 110-120VAC line? All the Mr. Slim products I looked at required 220VAC. I have an application where a small (i.e. ~1 ton) ductless split system might be just the ticket.

Cooling only: 9CQ or 12CQ

Heat Pump : 9RQ or 12RQ

These are all R-410a 115v rotary (non-inverter).
