So, how many of you IP 852/CEA 709 guys are using a single CS (configuration server) and running multiple databases through it?

Maybe I should ask this: How many guys didn't know you could do this with the L-IP?

I knew you could do it but haven't done it. One site with 2 LIP's and a single database, the other site has 4 LIP's and individual databases until I merged everything, which now I wish I wouldn't have done, but it still works fine, just takes forever on a resync - like 11,000 points.

I, for one, am running a couple of databases through one configuration server and I've had to create backups of the config server databases and paste them into the config server directory to handle it and it's kind of a pain in the butt. So on my upcoming project where I'll be adding another remote building to a system, I'd love to throw an L-IP in there to handle this problem. Will it work with my existing iLON600 and IP852-enabled iLON100?

Also, the other database (3-iLON600s, 1-iLON100) is on a VPN and my PC IP changes every logon, so I have to change the IP address of the network interface in two places and in the config server too. Another PIA. Can you fix that too?

The LIP can have the CS instead of your PC (recommended). You can set your LIP (check security) to auto-member and your roving PC IP address is handled.

And, you should be able to use the other products, especially within a NAT firewall (or with no firewall) You will lose functionality with any protocol analyzation with a Loytec LPA, but no matter because you already have Echelon devices so you didn't have that to begin with.

Any imcompatibilities with the products that there may be surface when you have NAT. Otherwise you should be OK.
