even if they pulled it off, I doubt the rest of the country would admit a new State

If they can get the county directly east of Mendocino I'm in.

EDIT- Seriously, I think if anywhere has justification for generating a new state it's this area of the country. They don't deserve putting up with southern California and they are so disparate they should be separated. Apparently they don't have enough organization to get this done. I also think they should go with "North California". It plays better than Jefferson.

They get to break off and form a new state.
Texas drops out of the union.
Presto, no issue with having to redesign the flag.:D

the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles have a similar rift as does the Florida panhandle. It would take a war between the states to add new states.
