I am getting a Bryant 95s 355CAV furnace and am considering replacing my 20 year old Lennox AC (which actually performed flawlessly). As I've considered my AC options, the heating and AC installer wrote the following: "The Bryant 113 is listed as a 13 SEER, however with a very expensive upgraded evaporator coil, and a variable speed blower it can reach up to a 15 SEER in the 2.5 Ton size. This type of upgrading is very common with all manufacturers... :

Does this make sense? Is this true? And how would it compare to a Bryant 165 (with SEER rating of 15)?

Thanks in advance...

It is true - post the model numbers here (furnace, condenser, coil) - anyone who has access to the condenser or ARI datasheets (I don't) can tell you if the particular match in question gets 15.5 SEER.

I looked through the specs and found no matches with Bryant coil that get 15. May be using a 3rd party coil which has computer simulated ratings, not tested ratings. You are looking at a top of the line furnace and bottom of the line A/C. The 165 is a much nicer unit and likely will hit 15 with Bryant coil.
