If Mc Cain passed away and Palin became pres. she would choose another for vice pres and congress would vote up or down for the NEW vice pres.

Several years back we had a situation where Nixon resigned, Ford then took the office, and he chose a new vice pres.

No. Only if the pres and VP are both taken out would the Speaker become president. If McCain craps out, Palin would become president and a new VP would be selected. I think, check me on this, she would nominate the new VP and the senate has to confirm.

First things first. They got to get elected, which is becoming highly unlikely after McCain suspended(forfitted) his campaign to fix the Bailout. If they put jail time as the first item in any rescue plan, it would pass the voters requirments.

Prez appoints a VP, and the senate approves.

ONLY if Prez and VP go out at the same time does Speaker of the House take over.
