I'm remotely monitoring a fire station using the Signal software 4.4.1. I want to check the 2 boilers schedule which they are to be alternating every other week. How do I find the schedule? Listed under what drop down file? Thanks for your input!

There should be a schedule page or a button on the boiler graphic that takes you to a schedule. On the schedule page you have to modify the on value and off value for each day of the week. To do so, click on each data block.

The window that opens is a [Boilers.ssf] [Run] window and it only show me the 2 boilers, 2 pumps, outside temp. and setpoints for OA Lockout and Hot water supply. I have adjustable window boxes under each that open a 'point control' window for change, history, trend sampling, graph, time overide, terminal. That it, except for the File Stop Global Overides Print Values at the top of the screen. I don't see any schedule word anywhere!

are you sure that the boilers run on a schedule and not just oa temp? i would think it should be a 24/7 operation just looking @ OAT. if a schedule was made for boilers it appears that it was not put on the graphics page. you will have to go into terminal mode in the GCM to modify the schedule. are you familiar w/ that?

No , I'm not fimilar with that. I do have a copy of the manual. Is it in there some place?
The tech that install it said he could change which boiler started first. This was a couple of years back thou. The sequence of operation say the 2 pumps will alternate on a weekly basis.

it should be in the manual under terminal mode. on one of the data blocks on the boiler graphic click the point and then hit the terminal button. you will see a new terminal prompt. hit enter a few times until you see username. user "user" for username and "pass" for password. see if you can get that far and i will talk you through the rest.

Tegger.

Using the "arrow" keys, scroll left or right until you get to "Block", press enter.
Again scroll left or right to "edit" and "enter".
Now scroll down until you get to "Week" blocks. Look for a block name that looks like it might relate to the boiler pumps. Press "enter".
Now you can scroll down through the block attributes.
If you make a change and want to save it, press "esc" and "Y" for yes then enter.

Once you are happy with the results press "esc" until you reach the "Main Menu".
Scroll left or right to the "Logoff" and press enter.

Very basic operation once you know your way around. Hope this is of some help and not too long winded.

Is there away that a schedule button could be put on the graphic page of the boilers, so this could be brought out to the screen to make the change there?

You will most likely be looking for an "oss" block in the GCM. You need to edit this block in terminal mode.It is probably named "boilers". Good luck

Usually the boilers will be enabled if the OSA temp is below a setpoint AND a fan in the building is running with a heating demand, or if a freezestat is tripped anywhere in the building, or if a "night low limit" is enabled.

Who is a vendor for the Signal software? The current PC is running Win 98 OS. Can the Signal software work on a Win XP OS system?

Signal was developed by a company in Albuquerque,NM Data ????? something. It was bought up during the Siebe era and I believe that there was an XP version offered by Invensys before it was bought by TAC. A very good package for very little money in the '80's. My understanding that your 4.4.1 will not work on anything beyond '98SE. Good luck..............rrh

Invensys owns Signal. It was originally developed by Datatalk. I work for an Invensys (TAC) rep and I don't think we can even buy it any longer. It runs on Win95 and Win98, and there is a version specifically for XP, but Win2000 was never officially accepted as a platform for Signal. There were some people running it on 2000 without problems. I don't remember the work around for it, but very few people are still using it.

Bud at DATA TALK developed it as an graphics interface between multi vendors , had sites with BC , POWERS , ANDOVER and used SIGNAL to link it all back to a central computer. Did a lot of beta testing on it.

The other companies did not push it in the same manner as BC who started using it as a replacement for the HOST 8000. The deal to buy it was started with BC and the data key was put into place.

SIEBE saw the $ value of it and a few other interfaces at the time , pursued DATA TALK and just bought up the others and and did away with the programs.

Invensys pushed it and TAC still shows it as an operating system.

Have quite a few sites still using it , and running on XP.

I have Signal 4.4.1 running on Win98 and have moved it to a virtual machine. The server doesn't have a parallel port to plug in the security dongle. Is there a way around this?
