I'm nearing the end of phase 1 of an in house retrofit (36 VAV, 3 SCU's, 2 VFD's and 1 ilon100e3). I'm doing a floor at a time (3 more to go) and so far I'm up to 520+ datpoints on the ilon all on one ft-10 channel. I am getting ready to start on the next floor and am a little confused on how to proceed. Do I need to set up a backbone channel (TP/XF-1250) and the the subsequent channels as FT-10 with the next ilon set up as a router (IP-852) and then do I also need to set up the original ilon for RNI and as a router? does each ilon need a seperate IP address but not it's own LAN connection?

Please enjoy my ignorance but any help is appreciated.

thanks,

You can squeeze some more devices on that channel if it's logical.
You can also consider a Loytec smart switch to help manage some traffic.
However, I'd pull back before 750 variables.

Skip 1250 and utilize IP/FT routers. Basically you have a config router and look up VNI and RNI.

If you are all behind the NAT routers you can mix/match Loytec and Echelon with VNI. If not, well then email me.

However, you might want to look into L-switches and L-IP 1-4 port FT routers. (bias alert)

I am definitely interested in anything you might suggest (biased or not) so if you can shoot me any info that would be great. I had discussed routers with my supplier but won't I need additional ilons regardless, the next floor should be pushing 700+ DP's alone?
And yes thankfully I am behind the NAT router.

How can I get your email?

I am new with Loytec so contacting Loytec-Americas gets you to me. Just fire off an email to them in the meantime. Just state you want the local rep to contact.

I also have experience with e3 so I can give you some tips and probably some files you can sift through if I haven't obfuscated them. Anyway, no more than 750 per box max and that's with some optimal polling rates.

So far I've left all the polling rates at default settings so I'd definitely like some tips there. I saw your email on the loytec site so I'll email you Monday.

I'm still confused on how to bring in additional ilons into my network but I'll try to read up over the weekend.

Thanks,

381engineer,
Follow the link below and download the user guide for the new smart server from Echelon. Look at pages 124 thru 155 in the user guide and it will assist you in the setup of multiple ilon100 on your network.

http://www.echelon.com/communities/developers/ilon100/default.htm

This will give you the tips that you may look for, also there is other information that is helpful.

The LPR10 router from Echelon is what I use when I have multiple ilon100 in a network then I use web binding to bring the points into one ilon100 for information only, this is explained in the user guide, it is about 26 megs in the pdf format.
