View Full Version : NAE 55 lost points??

O.k. here is the deal. One of my customers has an NAE 55 with an ADS server. Each bus is N2 and far under max point count. There are a lot of bacnet IP points, but they appear to be responding in the same way.

I was adding some points to the UNT on the chiller today. I dumped a new config file in the unt. I went to the NAE and removed the existing resourcefile. Imported the new PRN resource file. I added the point using the auto feature, and dropped it into a folder within the controller. Finished answering the questions and thought all was good.

I then refreshed the tabs and went to see the point live in the controller. It was not there... I thought I did something wrong, so I went to the bus diagnostic and checked it out. It actually states that it is mapped in but I can not see it in the all items view.

I repeated this with three other points all of which did not show up in the all items but show as being mapped. Then I decided to use the auto feature but not put the points into folders. Bam it worked. The points were there. Next I manually mapped in some points and placed them in folders. This also worked.

Sorry for the long post, but does anybody know if this is a qwerk that I have found?? Is there something that Johnson (corporate) did to prevent me from simply adding points? I have not had this problem on any of the other NAE's I installed.

Here is the best Solution.

Did you power cycle the nae?

Thats the only thing I did not do. I figured at 4 pm it was not the wisest thing to do. I was going to do that tomorrow A.M. And instead of a power cycle, i was going to remotely reset it.

Freddy, i get the FX thing. I have seen yours and many others posts about pros and cons of everything. In spite of this issue, I have not had many problems with my NAE's. Yes I hate the Java crap, I also know it does not do everything under the sun, but it seems to work for our group. I am fortunate to have a distributor that also takes care of me. They are looking into this also. I just wanted to ask here because we all see many problems day to day. The fact so many people read the threads I figure someone else may have seen this.

But hey, without problems none of us would make money right...

What Revision are you running?
Everything has bugs, but NAEs....JESUS. Weak Hardware, kluster software, and not that powerful when they are "working" even when properly installed, designed and maintained...which is Rare.

Making Money or stealing money?
This is not directed at the field level guys, so Mackinaw you dont have to get defensive.:D

It's running vers 2.2 I haven't brought it up to 4.0 like my other sites. This is the only one I have with an ADS. I understand its a bit more difficult otherwise I would have already done it.

Load up your folders, then log out and back in and there they are.
For some reason when you move stuff around it doesn't refresh the all items list.

Hi, Have you tried adding the points manually without using the resource file

Yes, that was one way they would stick. The other was using the resource file but not dropping the point in a folder, instead just dropping it below the controller.

It was explained to me and the way I took it was to use the refresh all tabs button. This is the same as logging out and back in. So far this has always worked.

Ok. Today I reset the NAE and found no change. Next I went and deleted the whole controller. I then tried using the auto discover to bring everything in. When I selected all and verified points, there were the points from yesterday. The NAE was saying they were already mapped in!!! WTH... I went to the query section and searched the entire NAE for the points. Nothing showed. I give. Finally I created a logic page and just forced the point from the NAE.

The NAE shows the points, but they are nowhere to be found??

Are there any particular issue(s), Why 4.X is a big problem? Are there any hardware changes needed for 4.X?

Delete the controller(then right-click on the NAE and archive)then re-add it with a slightly different identifier(AHU-1A instead of AHU-1). You then can add the resource file and map in the points.

When adding or deleting controllers, resource files, and-or points be sure to archive the NAE or you will similar experiences.

What I should have said in the above post is "when deleting anything in an NAE, be sure to archive before re-adding".

Never thought of that Buzzman. That makes sense since the nae would not recognize the new identifier. Thanks for the tip.
