Left or Right, these parasites are all cut from the same rotten moth-eaten cloth and are bringing our great Country to the dustbin of history. We need real leaders that will bring real solutions to America.

"I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig." – John McCain, in reference to Hillary Clinton's health care plan, last year.
"George Bush has given a mission to General Petraeus, and he has done his best to try to figure out how to put lipstick on a pig." – Barack Obama, last year.
"Or as we say out in our home state of Wyoming, you can put all the lipstick you want on a pig, but it's still a pig." – Dick Cheney, 2004.
"It's all about withdrawal or not withdrawal, okay? I mean that's what it's all about. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig." – John McCain, last year.
"You can put lipstick and earrings on a hog and call it Monique, but it's still a pig." – Texas Gov. Ann Richards.
"John Kerry tries to put a bunch of fancy, fancy talk...but there is nothing you can do to really -- to really obscure that record. You can try, though. And in Wyoming, we've got a saying for what it is when you keep trying to make something that's not so good look good, we call it putting lipstick on a pig." – Lynne Cheney, 2004.

Know as mud-slinging. Been around since the start of politics.
That said, lets ask a Pig if it likes lipstick. Does the pig hold still while the lipstick is applied? How many politicians does it take to put lipstick on a pig anyway? Does the left advocate that both boors along with sows wear lipstick? Do we give a smelly dead fish wrapped in newspaper to each pig ?
Is any of this Kosher ?

Kinda like
-Bush girls drinking while underage
-Kerry's daughter showing her nipples in public
-Gore's son getting busted for drugs
-Ford's wife being an alcoholic
-Hillary having Vince Foster knocked off
-Carter's brother being a public drunk
-Hillary's brother being in trouble with the law
Is that the kind of control over family you're referring to?
How do you feel about Obama's brother living in a poverty stricken town in Kenya where he has to physically defend himself? Is that the kind of family values you prefer in our leader?

Being unsatisfied with leaders who have interests other than those of the people hardly qualifies one as "disgruntled".
That's assuming you know the intent of each and every leader we elect and of course...YOU DON'T.
That definitely puts you in the category of a chronic complainer who assumes he knows the mindset of the leaders we elect in this country...and once again...YOU DON'T.

Your "beliefs" do not necessitate fact.

So empty their keeping her from the press until like in Animal Farm " The sheep learn a new song"
Empty. Empty. And just in passing how would a soccer mom of 5 is it, run this country? Not very well I think.
I've heard the chances are 1 in 3 that any president won't finish their first term. Now that's scary. More so than Obama, or Paul, or maybe even Nader.
If any of you know Alaska you would also know if a person can field dress a moose that's enough to get 80% of any vote there. That's just AK. I had an ex that lived there.

In the history of the United States, the vice-president had to take the reigns precisely 9 times. They are as follows;
1. John Tyler (William Harrison died)
2. Millard Fillmore (Zachary Taylor died)
3. Andrew Johnson (Lincoln assasinated)
4. Chester A Arthur (Garfield assassinated)
5. Theodore Roosevelt (McKinley assassinated)
6. Calvin Coolidge (Harding died)
7. Harry Truman (Roosevelt (FDR) died)
8. Lyndon Johnson (Kennedy assassinated)
9. Gerald Ford (Nixon Resigned)
We are on the 43rd president, so the simple math says that the VP has had to take over 19.56% of the time. Call it 20%.
But simple math is not the way that statisticians calculate the actual probability. Various elements would give weight to the equation one way or the other, such as McCain’s age. Actually, some elements could add and some could take away – leaving a sort of “cumlative” result.
Given that, the 1 in 3 number doesn’t seem all that far off. Of course, to truly understand and agree with the number, we’d need to see exactly how it was formulated.
mrs reb77
09-11-2008, 05:15 PM
Ah, but of those dieing in office in the last one hundred years neither William McKinley nor FDR were in their first term.
That knocks down on the 'won't finish their first term' part. Of the other four from the previous 100 or so years, one of them (Lincoln) wasn't in his first term either.
So, out of the 8 that died in office, only 5 were in their first term.
mrs reb77

And, Ole Tricky Dick had been elected to his second term when he resigned.

I agree that probability would be weighted to a lower number taking two term presidents in to account.
But there may be more factors than either of us are thinking of. That's why it would be useful to see how the number was arrived at.
We could either disagree or agree on the items and the weight given. Or, we might say, yeah, I never thought of that.
Hard to say without the formula.
Although, I will say that I didn't expect even the raw math to produce a number that high.

A 1 in 3 chance that a 72 year old man will not reach the age of 80. Fair enough.
The numbers do not take any genetic predisposition into account and are based on average life expectancy only.
One need only to look at McCains mother and McCain himself to note that there are alot of variables to consider.;)
It's a moot point as far as I'm concerned because I believe Palin would be a much better VP than Biden....or Obama for that matter.

Well, I will admit that I read that quickly but I didn't see where 1 in 3 presidents won't survive their first term?? Which is what you had posted and we were commenting upon.
I does state : It’s a macabre point to raise on the night when Palin will speak to the convention here — but a look at the actuarial tables insurance companies use to evaluate customers shows that it’s not an irrelevant one. According to these statistics, there is a roughly 1 in 3 chance that a 72-year-old man will not reach the age of 80, which is how old McCain would be at the end of a second presidential term. And that doesn’t factor in individual medical history, such as McCain’s battles with potentially lethal skin cancer.
Which isn't the same thing at all.
