for the last 5 years Santa Barbara has set aside a couple of parking lots for people who live in their cars.

due to the housing crisis, the parking lots are overflowing.

How long until these folks decide that they are entitled to running water, electricity, phone and cable in each car? At the taxpayers expense, of course.

I firmly believe that anyone who is homeless for more than a few months is deliberately choosing to stay that way. There are just too many options for people to get themselves out of that situation for them to claim that they can't change things.

I drive by a homeless guy nearly every day. Occasionally I give him a few $$.

There's no way he could hold a job. I doubt he could hold a conversation with anyone other than himself. I'll bet he would like to be able to get a job and have a place to live.

Evidently he's good enough at communicating to take the money you give him, isn't he?

If he's not functional, he should be in an institution of some sort....or maybe you could employ him.

All he has to do is make it to his "spot".

Maybe he could come live with you. 2 peas in a pod.

Nah, It doesn't make me feel a bit like a philanthropist to throw money at vagrants(or in your case, drinkin' buddies):p

Some are wealthier than you might think...

And razorwit...some are more compassionate than others, you obviously choose not to be which is your privledge.

It is not your privledge however to poke at others on the site who chose to be...so let this stand as a warning.
