Does AX support the ability to take Niagara data and export it to LON for other peers to monitor/modify? Reading through docs, it seems that the LocalLonDevice supports this function, but wanted to see if anyone has had success with it. Many thanks in advance for your feedback on this.

Of course,
Looking for something specific?

nothing specific, more or less on a hunt for info. I'm playing with it here in my bench and I'm thinking that you just define the SNVTs and use wiresheet to pipe the information in?
This is my first dive into LonWorks, as I've worked with BACcrap most of the times. I dig LonWorks though....seems more straight-forward, especially from an integration stand-point.

Look at how many categories for data types CEA-709 vs bacnet. You will see less than 20 for bacnet and over 100 for CEA-709 (LON).
Which is why alot of people don't care about AST functions. They simply let whatever their front end does handle it because the data is already well defined.
Some guys complain about overriding in LON. I say a well designed LON product doesn't have that issue if the APPLICATION is designed thoroughly, which is up to the manufacturer.
Further, you don't have to worry about communication compatibility and addressing schemes in LON. It's already done and works excellent.

go into your LonNetwork and take a look at the "Local Nv Manager" view of the Local Lon device. There you'll find a "new" button which allows you to create nv's (input or output) and nci's.

What digo said is true. I did it a couple of years ago in 3.0.99 (I think). I had to set up a Jace 2 stand-alone and needed a local display, so I used a cheap Lon LCD display that polled the SNVTs I created in the Jace.
Can't remember exact process I went through, but it was my first AX job and I had no problems - so it can't have been too hard!
