Should the flow be going from the top of the picture to the bottom?
Or should the Trane sticker be inverted?

flow is from bottom to top if i remember right (as far as the valve is concerned) but i do not think that solenoid valves care about sticker direction :D

Top to bottom.
The pilot hole is on the outlet. When the pilot orifice is opened, the pressure above the diaphragm is allowed to bleed off to the low side or outlet of the valve, relieving the pressure on the top of the diaphragm. The inlet pressure then pushes the diaphragm up and off of the main valve port and holds it there allowing the refrigerant flow.
