It's interesting how some of these so-called law makers what to pass laws based on their own preferences rather basing it on public outcry...I think it's indictative of whom they are really representing

So then can we now ban the fat slob next to me, drooling on the armrest? How about some screaming kid who won't shut up for 12 hours? How about the "lady" behind me who thinks perfume should be enjoyed for hours after she has left the plane? How about arrogant, ignorant, worthless government employees? Is this what they have to worry about in Washington?

Did we fix all those other things already and I missed it? Or somebody have too much time on their hands?

Line 'em up...................

Yeah, Mama congress has to watch out for us!

This was particularly interesting:
A third House member raised the specter of national security, saying she'd witnessed one man use his cell phone camera to take pictures of sensitive parts of the airplane.

Exactly which parts are the 'sensitive' ones? Are they like 'private parts'?

And, this sentence shows our Congress' intelligence:
The committee's action comes as the European Union is moving to allow airline passengers to talk on their cell phones during flight.

Liked this fellow though:
But Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., said there are a lot of annoying things on airplanes, including children with dirty diapers and noisy MP3 players, but that doesn't mean they should be banned.

"You are trying to legislate courtesy, folks, and that just doesn't work," Mica said.

If the majority of passengers agree that someone is annoying everyone else with a cell phone or whatever, they should be allowed to throw that person off the plane WHERE EVER the plane happens to be. Problem solved.

And if she thought it was a security issue, why is she using that point TO SUPPORT A BILL THAT DOESN'T ADDRESS HER CONCERN?

Maybe the bill should be to require a minimum IQ to serve in office. ;)

Yea, but IQ by itself don't mean JACK. We need some common sense people in DC that have the onions it takes to lead.

i knew it was BS when they said cell phones interfere with flight instraments

i mean think about it, they won't let you have nail clippers but they'll let you have a cell phone that will take down a plane?

Oh, my gosh. Someone is talking, outloud, in public. We have to ban this type of behavior before it spreads to every human being on this planet. Before we know it everyone will be talking. And not just to themselves. People will engage in what is privately known as a conversation. It will spread like wildfire. We can't have people sharing their most secret thoughts aloud. I say we vote to ban talking everywhere in the U.S.

If you really think about, what bugs people about those that are on cell phones is the fact that they can't hear the other half of the conversation. No one would tell two people on a plane, talking, to hold their conversation till the plane landed. Why is it that listening to one person talking is so wrong.
I talk to myself all of the time.

If you knew it could happen, would you use your cell phone? It’s called incentive.

That's a good point. But it seems people on cell phones feel the need to talk 5 times louder than normally. I've heard people near me on a plane talking, and if you want to hear what they said, you had to try and listen, it wasn't thrust in your earhole......:D

Why DO people talk louder on cell phones? I see that a lot--and hear it too! And, if you know them and mention it they say they were not!

the point is, if you don't like people talking on cell phones while on the plane go complain to the people who sold you the ticket. You are the customer. If the company providing the service gets enough complaints from its paying customers then they will make it their policy that no phones can be in use on their planes. Simple. Why does the government need to be involved? Who do these elitist politicians think they are to pass a law just because they don't like something? Aren't they suppose to be servants to the people they represent?
I'm telling you people this so-called government that we have isn't who you think they are.
