I was working on an 8 year old Trane residential a/c today, and discovered the compressors run spade terminal had completely disentigrated on one side and some on the other side ; there isnt enough to push a female connector on it without it vibrating off. Im trying to figure out a way to get a good tight electrical connection on it . Ive thought about using a soldering iron to solder a female terminal in place or a small lug connector that would screw down thereby holding bare wire directly on whats left of the compressors (round) pin . Has anyone come up with a fix that worked in this situation instead of condemning the compressor ? Thanks.

There is a terminal repair kit available at most supply houses. It's a brass terminal with setscrew that clamps on.

If the terminal has burned off, you'll be back. Putting one of the terminal kits on will buy some time, but that compressors ticket has been punched and it's just waiting for the train to pull into the station.

Qwiklug.

Easier than termloc, have used both, termloc can be a pain to tighten.
