Deporting them all won't work and won't happen. I think the better solution is enforcing existing laws combined with tighter border security. Under those conditions, we stop the flow of new immigrants and the ones already here self-deport when they can't live as well as they do now. That would be a more gradual process and not such a shock to the economy.

Illegal immigrants are propping up our receding economy. Let the record show that I'm in full support of legal immigration.

That said, illegals should be given the financial incentive to go home. That means that we prosecute the employers, STOP the social services for illegals, and let the
solid waste hit the air movement device as far as the real world plunge that this WILL have on our economy. So be it. Then we can adjust our lives as needed, and stop living this caste-society pipe dream.

Just look at our younger generation. They are spoiled rotten and are going to have a rude awakening, but....let's get it over with!

Funny how the midwest wasn't really addressed in this article. We don't have illegals as house servants, illegals doing our nails, raising our kids, mowing our yards. I agree with the Doctor, if you remove all the money spent on illegals (that they AREN'T contributing to the system) you will eventually come out ahead. This article only addressed the ones working or doing services they assume Americans don't/won't do. If they're illegals then they aren't contributing to the tax base. Send them home.
We have one of the largest nurseries in the U.S. here in our town. For many many years they managed with seasonal LEGAL workers. Then they started importing immigrant workers, providing housing for them etc. These workers stayed after their work assignment was up but then they needed housing. There are houses around that would be about right for a family of four that have four or more immigrant families living in them. All with bikes outside because none of them have driver's licenses. We had the first murder in many many a year in one of these neighborhoods involving one of these families. I can't say this situation is a good thing. Our school had to add a bi-lingual employee to teach English as a second language. Had to.

And exactly how does one come up with all these numbers on illegals anyway? It's not like they answer polls or line up to be counted as here illegally working without paying taxes etc.! And, if they did, you now know where they are--send them home. Illegal means they are breaking the law. Unless we wanna change the definition of that too.

America has slowly gotten into this mess, doesn't mean it can't be gotten out of and we should just give up. Deport every illegal you find. Fine employers for hiring them. Don't give them social services--no free emergency room, no food hand outs. Sorry, it's tough but if you're here illegally it shouldn't be easy.

The problem I see with that report is low skilled laborers that are here legally. As a nation we've gotten so fat and lazy it would almost be impossible to find someone to do menial work, even if they're low skilled.

I recall and interview on TV (~15 years ago) where a grape farmer was defending his use of illegals. He was paying twice the minimum wage and couldn't get anyone that was legal to even respond to his ads.

Attach work to the welfare part and see what we get. There are many many people out there living off the government (i.e. off of US) that are very capable of doing unskilled jobs as well as sit down jobs etc. that don't because they think they've got it better living off the government (i.e. off of US). I know people missing limbs that have worked their entire lives and then I know people that are just obese that somehow have never worked their entire lives.

In my years of living in NC, I've seen first hand the havoc that illegals are reeking on our system. Here is a possible solution: Deport them ASAP...then, take all teenagers 14-17, and let them do alot of the "crap jobs"!!

Think of it like this, These youngsters ALWAYS complain about not having any spending money, even though their so-called parents give them everything and don't make them responsible for ANYTHING!!

Give these "brats" some kind of menial job for minimum wage. Now exclude obviously hazardous jobs , i.e. jobs involving dangerous processes, machinery, etc.

I know I like to talk about my son "Calf" a lot, but heres the deal. He has had a job of some sort since he was 14. EVERY car he has ever driven, HE OWNED and bought with his own $$...gas and insurance included. He had jobs such as: dishwasher at a nursing home, worked at a local social hall setting up for events, you get my gist here.

Yeah, to some parents this seems like cruelty to children. I say BS!! He now earns a killer living as a welder, and what he has accomplished is DIRECTLY related to the "work ethic" he learned from having to work for what he got.

Too many parents have killed us as far as work ethic and children are concerned. There is NOTHING wrong with a teen having some sort of job during the summers, and after school. As long as they have time to keep up with their school...there is no harm in this.

Now as far as more hazardous types of jobs...these can be filled by non-skilled Govt. "teat leeches"!! They should be made to undergo physical, mental, etc tests to determine ability and given jobs accordingly.

Employers need to be made to pay somewhat over min. wage. (I know this flies in the face of "Capitalism, but we are talking about US survival for chrissakes) Maybe this will stop the "coddling" enviornment that our Liberal nitwits have created, re-instill work ethic..and the "teat pirates" also learn skills and even a trade!! Imagine that!!

Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now. Just thought I'd run it up the flagpole and see who salutes.
