I am bored at my job!! :(I work night shift a 12 hour shift 3 to 4 days a week with 3 to 4 days off a week. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy my job I do industrial HVAC but at this location I do not fix anything! I do PM's grease pumps and motors occasionally fix something with the chillers. I get paid real well about thirty an hour to be here just in case of an emergency! But I really feel that I am losing my skills not doing anything. And I am bored!! with the mindless tasks. I would quit and go to work doing service but it seems that the money and benifits are not there! I do like my 3 and 4 day weekends that is nice cause I like to fish:) I guess I have to take the good with the bad just wish something would break so I can actually troubleshoot it and fix it!
what do you guys think I should do?

Money isn't everything... but it is a lot.
For sure, you will give up those long weekends... maybe some dollars per hour... probably some benefits.
You could end up trading worrying about boredom on the night shift for worrying about how long the job at XYZ company will last before the next layoff.
Or...
You could find the best place in the world to work.
Ultimately it is your decision.

If your job is secure, I would hang on to it. The economy is not going to get better any time soon.
Go fishing, enjoy life. Look on the bright side. :)

Find a hobby to engage your free time and challenge you.
Enjoy your easy job. Use it as a rest time. :)

Stay where you're at and find a contractor looking for help2-3 days a week.
Do that for a few years and bank the 2nd check in a savings account.......in 5 years you'll sitting pretty.:)

Take some classes. Apply yourself to learning your equipment inside and out, there is no reason to be bored. It's all right in front of you.
You are in a jewel of a situation and don't know it.

Stay put. Economic times look to get worse than they are now.
