I have Version 17 SP2 installed on my laptop(by Trane). Are there other service packs available? If so, is there any other way to get them other than dealing with local Trane office? Getting anything controls wise, not too mention service/support is like pulling teeth. That is putting it lightly.

I have a site that I VPN into which is also Ver17 SP2 and Summit gives a critical alarm and shutsdown. I thought it was something specific with that site but I went to another job and connected to BCU with my laptop which was Ver16 and was again shutting down on critical errors. It appears to be a software problem. Wondering if anyone else is having problems and if there is a patch for this. Thanks

No problem here, what is the error you are getting?

Are you using remote desktop to control the summit through VPN? If so does the PC you are connecting to have IE7?

For your laptop what is its error? Just installing a new service pack will most likely not fix your problem, you either have a database corruption or something else.

If you are a customer and have your software code you can be setup with mytranecontrols.com which has all updates, etc etc.

Yes, I am using remote desktop to VPN. I have found out that if I am logged in already before connecting remotely then it will work fine. I will have to dig through some emails to get the exact message. I will post that when iIget the email.

When I connected with laptop I did not write down the error. It said tracer summit has encountered a crtical error and will shutdown.

I am a contractor. That is the problem with getting anything from Trane.

Here is what the error reads:
Microsoft Visual C++
Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program C:\ProgramFiles\TracerSummit\Bin\Summit.exe

Expand the advanced menu:
Tracer Summit Advanced Critical Error-
Summit detected an operating system error
Access violation
Module=C:\ProgramFiles\TracerSummit\Bin\TGrphMgr.d ll,21D607C0012FAA0 0001:0006 B07C

I don't thnk this was the same message I was getting when I connected laptop directly to BCU. But it was also a critical error and would shut down.

For that error make a copy of the file called psapi.dll located in programfiles\tracersummit\bin and place it in a temp directory. Then delete the file out of the bin folder. Try connecting now and see if it errors.

If that doesnt work i would recommend removing ie7 from the computer you are remote desktoping into and go back to ie6.

As for your laptop just post the message if you get it again.

SP2 is the latest for v17 also. You can try and give that site a shot and enter your software code, and see if they will register you on it then you can get any future updates.

Ok. I will give that a try and see if that solves it. Thanks
