has anyone tried the Makita 7.2V Impact. a electrician friend of mine was raving about his over the phone today he lost his bosch and bought this. what has my interest peeked is he says its faster than the bosch but less power seeing i rarely need the power was thinking smaller and faster for zips could be good. and anything to lighten the tool bag right now after shoulder surgery is good. working 1 handed is a beeeeeeeech

i own it, it fits nice in my veto lol. the battery lasts long and is nice for screws that already has a hole in the metal. i do use it to drill holes in heaters and duct work for my static pressure tips. it can do that fine and it does sink a 1/2 zip screw but it takes a little long imo. so i get it started with that than use i nut driver to continue through. i have used it on rtu and no problem there either. its a good tool as long as you realize its not a drill and it is a powered screw driver.

If your starting screws it takes some getting used to.
It's almost to fast before the impact starts in 3500 RPM I think.
I don't care for the hold the button light but I like the lock for the trigger and light.
I love it. Fits great in the veto LC pocket with a viewtainer full of 1/4" drive goodies.
The white turns to yuck fast but I'm not out to impress anyone :p
Batteries last forever.
I think it's a great value at 100 bucks.
It would be the $hit if it had 2 speeds like the Craftsman I replaced.
I have the Makita 3.0 Ahr18V impact too (comes in a smaller size too ) and it is much better for starting screws with the variable speed but I don't like carrying it on every job BTW this one hangs great by the belt hook off one of the large rings on the outside of the Veto Pro Pac ;)
