As usual I disagree with the premises of this man, his methods, and ....well, just about everything...except his closing sentence. --
from David Frum's NRO blog--As the experience of the British and Canadian conservatives remnds us, recovering from such defeats can take a decade or more - and when the recovery does finally come, it comes only after major and radical rethinking and reconstructionAnd yes that typo in the word "reminds" is his. He is a typo king. Anyway, in this blog Mr. Frum asserts that optimism is not called for in the upcoming (POTUS) election because there aren't enough issues on which conservatives have the positioning to succeed following an election loss. He therefore disagrees with Rush Limbaugh that self-professing conservatives have any reason to be optimistic. Rush asserts that even after an '08 loss, that conservatism will rebound. Mr. Frum disagrees. Do you?
There are many social issues which he mentions from the seventies which gave conservatives reason for optimism. He finds few similar issues to give such felicity today. I thought we could take apart his list together, if you will read his latest blog on NRO --national review(dot)com It is on his blog from Saturday June 7 of this year. Scroll down to it to read this particular blog. It's a continuation of a banter he has about Rush Limbaugh.
But not before poking fun at this one ...He says that fatherlessness promotes crime and other antisocial behavior. Well how do you explain the thing in http://static.sky.com/images/pictures/1686352.jpgthis picture??? It's a father AND a mother... Guess that does two things ...causes it and solves it at the same time :p
Alright, in all fairness Mr. Frum has not extolled the virtue of this hideous thing pictured, but he doesn't think that conservatives are already in a revolution? I disagree. Do you think that conservatism is entrenched and comfortable, or what?
What do you think about energy prices, tax rates, public assistance, international treaties? Are conservatives adrift here or what?
