I was gonna get one of these but some of the guys i work with told me they sucked. lol Then i asked them to let me borrow theirs and get "i dont have one."

So then how do they know it sucks?

Is it worth it for me to get one? Ive heard they dont get hot enough. But have had others telling me there were certain jobs that required one. One guy told me he had to braze copper inside some concrete block and it came in very handy.

Just wanted to hear from some people who have them.

Should I get one?

I have two different sizes. I like them especially when using a torch inside the building. They keep the flame confined especially when brazing in an attic. I still have a fire extinguisher with me though.

damn, i just take a bottle of water and a wet rag. oh and retard cloth.

Does it get hot enough on bigger copper? I use 17-2. and on 1 1/2" copper it doesnt do the job well. I use my actual cutting tip for doing copper over 1 1/8".

Especiallly unsoldering. I use the cutting tip for that too cause its better at getting the entire pipe hot.

IDK though ive been told im a lil hotter than others. Ive had some tell me not to get it that hot but it ensures even distribution of solder. And it sucks in deeper. I usually do 2 passes. One sucking it in. Then laying it on the outside as well

Will this sucker get it hot enough for me?
Im a gas on high guy. lol

Ive heard they dont get hot enough.

Eh?
It gets just as hot as any other properly adjusted tip of the same size.

I've got one of the dual tip ones that is awesome for unsweating brazed joints and for brazing joints I need to get in and out of quickly, or are in tight spots.

It has it's place, but not really one of them used often tools.

At least, in my experience I'm not a huge fan of it.

I only have the small one, supposed to go up to 7/8. The tip requires very little gas pressure. I really think they're a "must have" along with the dual flame tips. It's like any new tool, you need to spend the time to learn. Not use it once and say it's a piece of cr*p

They seem like they'd be handy to quickly unbraze connections.

Like anything they require a bit of practice. I have used it many times since getting one and would not be with out it. I do alot of copper to aluminum and it works great.
