I really got caught off guard by not buying a leak detector in the offseason  -- that's a sure sign of a dork
A business owner in the refer business drools over getting the Yellow Jacket Accuprobe -- he also said that one of the Inficons doesn't sense R22 well (forgot which one). He also said that the ZX 1 was good, but cheap looking and doesn't hold up.
Looks like I'll chauk one up to stupidity and buy either the Dtek Select or Yellow Jacket Accuprobe -- which one would you guys choose?
Thx

had inficon tekmate for years. very good for detecting leaks but ear-piercing and prone to false alarm. bought YJ accuprobe and tested against tekmate and a ZX1. i dont think the YJ works any better than the tekmate. the ZX1 outperformed them both in our informal test. so i returned the YJ and got the ZX1.

Ive been using the Accuprobe for 2 years and have had great luck with it. It has detected leaks that others havent. I havent had to use the nitro as much for small leaks either.

The Inficon Dtek Select looked like it was made better, but I'm siding with the refer guys by buying the YJ Accuprobe.
Refer guys like it because you can detect a small or large leak in silence and it detects every HFC & HCFC refrigerants, as well as blends.
Does the Informant detect gas leaks -- that can't be right?

Accuprobe comes with an operator if batteries die and you don't have spares.
Inficon (was rechargable battery only...when it went dead in the middle of a hunt you were without, don't know if that is still the case)

I hate my yellow jackect, its way to sensitive to temp changes it will go off, which isn't good when your leak checking frozen food, And Ive been though 2 sensor on it already.
I have a D-tek and love it finds many leaks that others haven't, I also have the Inficon Tek Mate which is battery powered and works get too really good at finding r22 leaks.
Another one of our tech has the fieldpiece and really likes it, I compared it's sensitivity to the D-tek and they seem to be the same.
