Got one of these via UPS delivery today. I vaguely remember filling out a survey for Fluke a few months ago, and that the first 500 to send the survey back would get one of these. Kind of a neat voltage detector. Has a built in LED flashlight that is actually pretty bright. I think that is what is most valuable, a small and light weight light that I can throw in a shirt chest pocket or whatever.

As for the main feature, it works just fine, but I find voltage detectors only somewhat useful. Nice to see if power is where it should be, but it's not something I would trust to tell me there is no voltage. I have a meter I would use for most of these jobs. It has a proximity range where the light turns blue, then turns red when you are at the source. Kind of neat how you can trace unshielded wires inside a wall. Pretty cool little tool for free. http://us.fluke.com/usen/products/AccessoryDetail.htm?cs_id=36916(FlukeProducts)&catalog_name=FlukeUnitedStates

I have the LVD1
basically the same but smaller with a clip
to mount the thing on something
like a trouble light.
Very bright and one AAA battery
I use it for determining neutrals when all I got are colored wires in a unit :(
