This season I set thermostats to cool and the outside condensor would not start so I bump started the contactor and it stayed engaged an ran for about 30 mins or longer with no cool air...Then it turn off (by itself before air flow turned cool) with the thersmostat still signaling cool and now it will not stay on by bumping the contactor although the compresor and fan still engage if i hold the contactor down for a second...
I checked the starting compacitor for its rating and it rates out to the specs stamped on it...thanks for any help

Sorry Dave, site rules prohibit giving DIY advice. About the best you'll get is "call a pro" and give the whole system a good cleaning & checkup.

Because you already open the panel up trying to get it to work. Now you want info what else to check.
That is DIY diagnostics, and it is against the rules.

We all like to save money. But you have gone as far as you should, make the call to a service company.

Sorry Do It Yourselfer but it is against the rules to actually guide you through the diagnostics of a system, not because we want to make more money but because it is not safe to post in a public forum where the average Joe may read and get hurt. Try a reputable local company then post his findings here and we can help to tell you if you are being mislead.
