I have a post already running regarding my Uncles furnace he just recently had installed, but I was wondering what type of filter is standard with most all mid range and top end furnace's for Lennox furnace's? My Uncle's Lennox when I checked his furnace filter had just a basic 1" filter and the cold air reutrn is located on the bottom of his furnace which is a upflow set on top of what seems to be a wood box, I don't think there are any turning vanes in the box to help the air flow for the reutrn air. I know my Infinity came with a 4" filter rack as standard equipment. His furnace I know has the new ECM fan motor if that helps any with determining what the model would possibly be I know he paid as much for his as I did for my Infinity 58MVC, so I am guessing it could be atleast a 3" filter rack that should of been installed

1".

Yours may have been what your contractor considers standard.

Another item I think that maybe wrong was the outside tempature sensor placment, Ther orginal installer placed the outside tmepautre sensor straight up from the outside unit in the overhang of the house:confused: Is this normal for such a placement, when they put my sensor outside they put in just about 2' off the ground, I told my Uncle that he maybe getting false readings from his sensor because it is more than likely reading the hot air from the fan from directly below instead of true ambient air and not the hot air from the outdoor fan?? Where is the best place for the outside sensor?
