I'm replacing my 13 year old Rheem AC (3 ton) with 80 plus gas furnace (75,000 BTU) and am leaning toward a Bryant Legacy AC with 90 plus furnace. I like the variable speed blower offered on the Preferred Series. But don't know the cost difference. Also, I'm thinking of adding a "Spaceguard" filter. Presently I have one 20 x 20 return for a 3 ton unit and am considering adding one more return.

Any thoughts/suggestion? :confused:

what area of country do you live?

what is electric rate?

with today's energy costs, I think 80% furnaces are a dinosaur unless you live in an area that has a short heating season/moderate to mild winter weather.

I would upgrade to a 92+ eff furnace or pair an 80 with a heat pump if you have a reasonable electric rate.

I would not buy a new furnace without a var speed blower.
