In 2007, HVAC Comfortech and the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) brought you a series of very successful seminars on the fast–growing sector of the HVAC market – ventilation and indoor air quality.

In 2008, Comfortech and HVI are excited to again offer a four-part
series focusing on the impact of green buildings on ventilation and IAQ. Here is a rundown:

A House is a System
Tex McLeod, The McLeod Associates
Tex McLeod, a contractor and builder with 30 years of experience in advanced residential construction, demonstrates how the current green building trend requires contractors to understand how a house works as a system to ensure that ventilation and IAQ needs are met.

Understanding Green Building Programs
Don Stevens, Panasonic Home and Environment Co. & Paul Raymer,
Heyoka Solutions
Don Stevens and Paul Raymer clarify the ventilation requirements of green building programs such as Energy Star, LEED for Homes and the NAHB Green Building program. Understanding these requirements has become critical as the number of homes built to green building standards expands rapidly in all regions.

Indoor Air Quality Solutions – Knowledge Makes the Difference
Stephen Klossner, American Lung Association
Everyone’s talking about it and everyone seems to be offering a solution. But, what do you, as the contractor, need to know to provide the products and systems that ensure IAQ? Come and find out from the experts what you really need to know to identify IAQ problems and provide solutions that work. All homes, new, old and green have IAQ issues and require good ventilation practice – this is an opportunity to learn how to expand your business and your customers’ satisfaction.

Installation – The Key to Making Ventilation Work
Rob Ferris, Fantech & Gord Cooke, Air Solutions Inc.
The best products can be defeated by poor installation. We’ve all seen heating and cooling systems that did not perform due to installation problems. Ventilation is no different. Without good installation practices it just won’t perform, leading to customer complaints, callbacks and even legal liabilities. HVI brings you a team of experts with years of installation experience to lead this lively, hands-on session where you get to see the results of good and bad installation practices.

:D HVI Passport Contest :D
Attend all four sessions to complete the HVI Passport you’ll receive
when you arrive at the first ventilation session and you’ll be entered
into a drawing for a variety of ventilation products such as bathroom
fans, heat and energy recovery ventilators, range hoods and inline
fans donated by HVI members. This opportunity is only available to
those who attend all four sessions!
