I'm not sure of the reason for an inverted loop on the suction line. My understanding is if the condenser unit is mounted below the evaporator coil, the installation is to include an inverted loop (an upside down "U") just prior to the coil with the top of the loop being slightly higher than the top of the coil.

My coil/air handler is in the attic and my condenser is about 14 feet below it. I was going to run the suction and return lines up the outside of the house and bring them into the attic. Rather than running the lines on the floor of the attic, I was going to run the suction line slightly higher than the top of the coil and then down to the hookups on the coil. Would this be the same as an inverted Loop?
