Ok, so my question might seem stupid, but I have no clue how the thing works, I'm not used to it : I have a heat pump at home, but the heater has been off for a few days due to the nice weather.
Now with the heavy rain we've had all night long, the temperature dropped outside, but was still comfortable inside this morning, when I realized I heard air coming outside the vents. I though it weird since the heat is off. However the heat pump was turning. Could it be the fan ? It's on auto all the time. Now I'm thinking I saw the heat being off because I wanted to see it off...
Sorry for what might be an obvious question, but like I said, I'm not used to heat pumps..Thanks for any help.:o

Make sure teh system switch is in teh off position.
If it is and the unit is still running, you need a service tech.

Ok I'll run home during lunch. But is there any danger of anything ? It's not my house, I'm renting, and I wouldn't want anything happening to it:D

Depending on whats running, and whats not running, yes.

You may have turned off the Heat Pump, but left the Emergancy Heat on. This would cause the electric furnace to kick on when you need heat, but leave the heat pump off.

Your thermostat should have an indicator that says something like "Emergancy Heat" or "Back up Heat."
