Shadan . . . I know about lots of tools but I can't imagine what you are talking about. What does a "ball crimp tool" do?

Where can you get them? I've asked around and given up :(
Any that aren't pneumatic?
I can't stand the regular ones

I had one of those once.

Divorced her over 25 years ago.

Somebody had to say it.

Should be able to get them from just about any appliance service parts vendor, APPCO in my area sells them.

The set that's illustrated in my reply are from CPS [Custom Products and Services] http://www.custom-products.com or toll free at [888]444-1202.
They're based in Minnesota.

Not sure if they have non-pneumatics or not you can email them with questions at info@custom-products.com

If you dont mind my asking what's wrong with typical pinch offs - space limitations?

Either mine are tired or I over tightened them but it is hard for me the get a complete shut off.

They will work for me if I get a wrench on them but to a point that I'm worried about slicing through :(

I see the ball crimps from oem and it looks good but I bet it's pricey

I don't think I could get an air compressor in my veto either ;)

At 2 HP, 13A, oil-free induction motor which delivers 2.6 CFM at 90 PSI with a maximum working pressure of 135 PSI with a 6 gallon tank for $149.00 on Amazon, you'd be surprised how much easier your life could be with one of these, and they don't require much dead space in the van either.;)

Are you just looking for a simple handheld ball crimper (pinch-off) like the Refco 14285?

What kind of work are you all doing where you use a ball crimp tool?

Are you doing appliance, hermetic compressor work?

:)

:)I would use it for small self contained refrigeration that had no pressure taps on it before I worked on it.
I would know no one could mess with the critical charge after I fixed it

I think the first company to produce a ball type tool was Robinair. There have been copies by a couple of manufactures in Taiwan.
I have a couple of the Taiwanese tool and they look exactly the same as the Refco product.
These tools are the only thing i have seen that can reproduce the factory type crimp. You can use your valve ratchet to operate as the shaft is 1/4" square.
I have found with mine that you have to crush the 1/4" tube in the middle then release and twist the tool to the top and then the bottom of the tube.
This process will completely seal the tube so that you can weld it.
If you just do the center crimp it will bypass enough pressure to stop you welding up the open end of the process tube.

I stopped using the Imperial type bar crimper as it leaves the tube very weak at that point and will easily break off with a bit of movement

I didnt find the picture about the regulator, but here is the 20oz C02 bottle. Lowes has this contraption for portable pneumatic power, that clips on your belt and off you go.
