Does anyone have a link to a site where I can buy Nextel ringtones (songs) without having to commit to a lifelong agreement to pay $9.99 a month?

I just want to buy a couple of songs for ringtones. For crying out loud, these companies are advertizing 15-20 free ringtones when you sign your life away. Hell! I can't even think of 15 different songs I would want for ringtones. I just to buy maybe 5 songs.

C'mon young'uns, help out an old timer HVAC guy.

What kind of Nextell do you have Robo?? Can't you just do it from the phone?? My Verizon phone has a download site for tones....cost me about 2 bucks per tone.

I already downloaded a couple of songs from my Nextel I570, but the choices were thin (hell, I didn't recognize most of em).

This isn't about you OTTO. This is about me. This is about my wanting to have a couple of tunes "THAT I RECOGNIZE" that are easy for me to just buy and have put on my phone.

No wonder these goofball youth are always angry and wanting to kill one another; they have made life a lot more difficult then it needs to be.

This is the phone the new company I am working for provided. It has some standard ring tones on it, but I want to be hip and put my tunes on it:rolleyes:

My previous tunes were; Born to be Wild for my son, Everybody Wants to Rule the World for my boss, Communication Breakdown for my wife, Van Halen's Jump for my customers and Bohemian Rhapsody for everyone else. Now I can't find any of these songs.

Do you have a voice recorder on your phone?

If you do you can hold the phone to the radio and make it record. When you save that recording you save it as a ring tone.

I can't type any older. Do I have to come do it for you? :D

Probably:o

OK, I do have the record thingy, but there does not seem to be any way to make it a ring tone.

Easy there big guy...."thingy" is a highly technical cellular phone term that only us experts use.

Your going to need to apply for professional cellular membership to get more help on the subject....I think you need a minimum
of 38,500 posts to join though.

Hell, Robo your'e using a computer and if the self portrait is any evidence you are not tecnically inept, the link I sent you is simple enough that my six year old figured out how to change the ringtones on his mom's phone. Seriously though, what model phone do you have? there are several ways to get ringtones onto a phone. I will look and see if I have the ones you want somewhere. If you have the right model you may be lucky and I can send them to you via text message.

I don't think it is so much that he can't figure out HOW to get the ring tone on his phone, I think it's more that he can't figure out how to get it transfered off of those pesky vinyl 45's :p

WTF Robo? You're not geeky enough to make your own ringtones??? :D

I've never PAID for a ringtone.

A few years ago we made the MISTAKE of leaving Alltel for them annoying Nextel phones.

Well I did figure out how to use the iDen software and made my own for the i720 I had. I think they had to be wav files. It wouldn't use mp3's.

I MAY still have some vonverted ringtones for those phones somewhere (hope you like AC/DC and heavy metal!).
You just need the software to upload it to your phone.

Every phone I've had I have had to mess with and learn the tricks to make FREE home made ringtones work. v710, etc.

My Palm Treo 700wx, thank God, is very easy to do ringtones. I put them on my 4 Gig memory card. Then copy to the internal memory where my ringtones are. They of course are MONO mp3's. Another thing I do is I take the mp3 I want to use and use an audio editor, like Cool Edit Pro.
Then make it MONO because you don't need STEREO for a phone.
Then I cut out the frequencies below 100HZ and crank the midrange. (The opposite you do on your stereo).
I amplify it just before clipping so it's nice and loud.

My home made ringtones are LOUD as fack and clear as a bell.
I hear other people's ringtones that they PAID for and they sound like SH!T!

On that video I made where I was boiling water with the vacuum pump and close to the beginning you hear some music playing loudly.... that's my Treo Trivium Ringtone for known callers.
It's a cool ringtone I think. For one,m it's not RAP! (I can't believe it when adults have that sh*t on their phones!)
It's a solo section from a Trivium song with them playing a few Arpeggios.

I'm certainly geeky enough. Just not when it comes to this stupid phone. The one I have is an i570, which is fine for what I need it for. I just wanted to have the same ring tones I downloaded on my other Nextel phone I had when I was with Goodman.

I truly do feel lame when it comes to some of the new technology. Hell, I still cant' figure out how to stop taking pictures of the inside of my wallet.

I have downloaded a few that are available direct from Nextel, but on my other phone I was able to download songs from a seperate source for a couple of bucks a song. Now it seems that you have to commit to $19.99 a month with all of the aftermarket song download places (sort of like thingy).
