REEM/Corsaire compressor noise

got a Reem here that on starup is making a loud thumping noise, amps check out ok and its pumping, HO informed me its been doing this for a couple years when i asked why the previous tech didnt do anything they said he coundt find the pronlem hehe. im thinking its getting liquid back to the compressor what do you guys think

Where's the evap? If much higher than the condenser, may well be liquid flooding back if the suction line isn't looped above the evap to prevent it.
