First off, I'm a new homeowner, so bear with me. I had an A/C system installed in my new home last spring shortly after we moved in, and I don't really know much about it. I'm trying to educate myself more now (after the fact I know, but better late than never!) and I have a couple of questions. (And for the record... NO I don't plan on working on any part of the system!)
The installer was highly recommended to me by a friend in the industry, and since I've been told the most important thing is to have a good installation, I went ahead and hired him. I did some of the leg work, including a Manual J heat load calc (what fun!), and tried to research the equipment as best I could. What I knew before the install was that I was going to get a 2 ton, 13 SEER R22 Keeprite unit. That's about it - I knew nothing about filter-driers or TXVs, so here are my questions:
1. The installer used an ADP coil, P/N HE30424A140A0000AP. Does this coil have an integral TXV? If not, how can I tell whether or not a TXV has been field installed? I'm assuming there would be a "sensing bulb" on the lineset somewhere, but I don't really know what or where to look. Would this be totally inside the coil, or should I be able to see it from outside the plenum?
2. If a TXV was not installed, is it worth having the installer come back out to install one? The outdoor unit is a 13 SEER R22 Keeprite, P/N C2A324GKA100.
3. How do I know whether or not the installer actually installed the included filter-drier? He brazed something (a plain copper "tube" about 6" long and larger in diameter than the line, that has an arrow printed on it - pointing towards the coil I think) on the line just before entering the coil. Is this the filter-drier?
4. If the filter-drier was not installed, is it worth having the installer come back out to install it?
Thanks for your help. I'm just trying to find out as much as I can about equipment I actually have.
