Some manufacturers say it has to be done.
Some manufacturers say "just clean and purge".
What do the professionals, with real-world experience, on this forum say?

IF I am replacing a burn out/ contaminated system or changing refrigerant type I always change linesets no matter how difficult. As a rule I never use preexisting lines unless it is impossible to do otherwise(very rarely the case in residential). If I cant see the lines I have no idea what condition they are in or if they were run properly.
