Well within a week of my pro member status here it has cost me a bundle.

Last week after reading all the great things being said about Digicool and YJ's digital manifolds, I went to my local Johnstones and ordered a set of the YJ digital guages, YJ tubing benders and the YJ swagging kit. They are all great and I don't know how I got by without them for all these years.

My first job last week I had to bend some 7/8" copper and what a breeze compared to the old spring benders I have always struggled with. The swagging kit is the bomb too. With the raising cost of copper these two items should pay for themselves in short order. I just can't believe I had not seen them before now.

The one problem, the temperature probe on the analyzer came off the strap the first time I used it, I hope they come out with a better solution soon.

They will!

But in the mean time you can reattach it, or make a clamp to hold the probe. There are a couple different threads on it, ranging from 25cents to 100 bucks.

Speaking of your promembership, you still need to send me a check!

I have been following the threads about the probe being placed in clamps or even the ones like the Fluke pipe clamp, and that is exactly what I need, I'm still trying to decide how best I should proceed.

Is my understanding right that Digicool is going to come out soon with a dual port version that will read SH & SC at the same time. And will it be able to work on the YJ version I have now?

You still have not received that check?

Nope, no check yet I will have to check with Twill.

The newer Digi-Cool will check superheat and subcooling and the clamp probe should work with the older model YJ, but it will still only check sh or sc one at a time.

Thanks Weber, my mind is old and fuzzy, but I thought I read in another post that the new model would be dual port and read both at once. What you are saying then it would just be an upgraded temp probe similar to the Fluke pipe clamp? Did I misread that somewhere?

I'm still reading back through all the old posts trying to gain as much info as I can, not just on the Digicools, but on all topics of interest. This is just a great site!

The new model itself will be able to read both sh ans sc by utilizing two probes clamp style. One of these clamps can be used on the old model to measure only one sh or sc at one time.

So if you have bought or dont own a digital set, wait a few months intill Digi-Cool releases them.

Do you think Doug wants to hear that :D Do you think a guy might be able to get a better deal by buying a 1200 at a discount site and then buying the upgrade? I think there might be a high demand for a 1250 for a while. I think a guy might be happier through the summer if he didn't wait. :p How about you? Have you heard a price for the upgrade?

Will there not be any way to upgrade the 1200 to the 1250 even if you had to send it in? I thought that was what I read or I would have waited for the 1250 to be released.

I was thinking of buying a 1200 now because they are 1/2 off what I originally saw them for sale and just upgrade the unit after summer. I didn't want to miss out on the deals on the 1200 and be waiting in line for a 1250. I was wondering if this might be wise or not  Doug was writing about the upgrade kit here. http://www.hvac-talk.com/vbb/showthread.php?p=1769421&highlight=1250#post1769421

Most guys on this board could handle the retrofit but not sure if I should do this or not.
I'll post it as soon as they are available both in full 1250 and retrofit kit.
Thanx for your patience.

itsiceman,
In that thread, and that is the one I remember reading, it sounds like to me that you will be able to have the 1200 upgraded to all the features of the1250. Am I still reading it wrong?
