Carrier A/C noise reduction VS compressor life ????

My new Carrier 2 ton outdoor A/C unit has what appears to be a black plastic bag over the compressor. The installer tells me that the bag cuts the noise from the compressor. Won't that shorten the compressor life by retaining heat ??????

The compressor motor is cooled by refrigerant vapor not ambient air. My compressor is in a metal box stuffed full of insulation. Quiet too!
