If I recall from first place I worked they did have problems they used a brand called skuttle instead I want to say the honeywell had problems with the solenoid valve dont quote me on it. I just remember they had problems and went to the scuttle brand.

I doubt they had trouble with the steam humidifiers...they just came out recently.

I don't think switching from one to the other made much of a difference. :D

To the OP, we had one issue with the new steamer where the drain valve leaked when we installed it.

The style they show you is basiclly a kettle style that requires alot of maintenanace even with the auto flush, general air got a decent unit out expensive, we are still waiting for true steam by honeywell, they must be having issues because we were promissed feb-08 and still no sign.

I have came across honeywell humidifiers that had bad solenoid valves. I was told they there were quite a few bad ones out there. But the steam humidifiers, everyone they I have installed worked out good.

I give up...the new breed is just way to fast and furious for me to keep up with....

Believe me when I say I've been around for a while...I know steam humidifiers have been around, I was referring to the new honeywell steam humidifiers.

Probably the same place you shop, but calgary is a little slower than Edmonton so they sent them there first. They don't catch on so quick.

with out knowing long term,, I would say that they do impress me at this time. I like the remote feature.

How ever:rolleyes: - the thought of all the maintenance, don't know if it is necessary, but I drained them, unplugged, and turned off water to unit.

Don't like the idea of water sitting in the system all summer.

Nice install.

We buy insurance on all our installs so we can give up to 5yrs. labor

Don't make anything, but we do break even.

Nice install.

Thank You.

One of the nice features is...if I remember right that if it doesn't call for humidity for 48 hours it drains the tank and waits for the next call. I didn't feel the price point was that much more then Aprilaire #700A and yes the remote capability is a very nice feature, you can mount it on a wall, run the hose into an unconditioned space, run independent of the furance. I was never a big fan of bypass units, drum units, or units that feed into the return.
I used a VisionPRO IAQ thermostat... big plus only takes 3 wires for the T-Stat, so on up grades you don't have to change the t-stat wire and everything gets hooked in to the interface box.

Oh, the upper class area. :) LOL

If it was your house, I was going to ask if you could hook up a timer to check its run time.

Yea, to say the least... his house wasn't the biggest on the block but it was still very nice. here's a picture of a house in the same area I just had to take a picture of, I call it Independence Hall. The home owner said 2 doctors live there. Wow

Same here on the IAQ stat. I like the feture allowing the fan to be turned on when calling for humidity. Works well with VS mtrs
