E-Mail not sending

I am using a Johnson Controls MS-NAE5521-0 and I am trying to get a text message sent to my phone using the email function when an alarm is generated. I know that my phone is able to receive text messages because I was able to test it through my personal email address. I am just not able to send it through the NAE. Do I have to setup the shared configuration portion of the email tab? And if I do how do I do it?

Some phones are funny how they receive e-mails. You may have to send the e-mails to a gmail account to view it on your phone.

Are you able to view the NAE alarm e-mails on your “personal email account”?

no, the nae isn't sending anything. The only thing that I can do is send an email to my phone from my email account.
