Out of curiosity, which vintage is the machine? Trying to see if you are using an o-ring or not. Trane recommends using the loctite 515, now I've heard of of gortex tape being used, I am sure some of the guys on here could tell you more about that. I have not been into any of the newer machines, the ones I've done are all older vintage w/ o-rings & 515. The only thing I can add is make sure everything is clean, pay attention to your bolt torques & tightening patterns.

I like to use a bottoming tap and blow out all the bolt holes....also check the depth...I've found where too long of bolts have been installed (from the factory). Use 515 on the evap to 90. Use DC 111 on the 90 to suction cover...plus a wrap of the gortex tape....get everything clean and dry just like TXHVAC says......alternate torqueing between flanges...some guys use a very light coating of neverseize on the bolts...
I've never had a leaker....

PS I like to use new bolts.....

PPS there was a thread on here not to long ago about this...I think you can do a search and find it?

yep. also make sure that the suction flange pipe does not extend past the "bolt ring" and hit the suction cover face.

good luck.

Trane recommends loctite 515 "grape jelly" on evaporator to suction ell. 1/8" bead on the inside of the groove, then the o-ring, then 1/8" on outside of groove to o-ring. For the suction ell to suction cover, if you have an o-ring, o-ring grease to hold oring in place, and a strip of gortex around the flange, overlapped by 1" where they meet. If no o-ring groove, "metal to metal" use grape jelly in a figure 8 around all the bolt holes. I'm not 100% sure if they make the ell to suction cover metal to metal or not, I know from the suction cover on back is on the new machines. Hope this helps
