Well, what i've got is a siemens valve, model SQS65.5U right now it is set up to fully modulate from 10 vdc - 0 vdc. 10 being valved closed. I need this valve to be full closed at 0 vdc and full open at 10 vdc. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

1) If the valve actuator is connected to a TEC, then the TEC motor setup needs to be changed from Reverse-Acting to Direct-Acting.

2) If it is connected directly to a field panel, then the Slope & Intercept need to be changed for the LAO point that controls it.

Scenario #1 can be performed with Datamate or by a Siemens technician by commanding TEC sub-point 58 to a certain value depending on what devices you have connected. Don't mess with it if you aren't sure what you're doing.

Scenario #2 can be performed through the MMI port on the field panel or from an Insight front end. The Slope & Intercept depend on point type, field panel model, and whether the point is commanding by percentage or voltage.

SQS65.5U is the part number for the actuator. As you described the operation of the valve it sounds like you have a Normally Open Valve and you want a Normally Closed Valve. Replace the valve with a normally closed valve...... you can still use the same actuator.

Click the following link for the cut sheet for your actuator.

If your application requires a normally open valve you can also reverse the 0 to 10 volt signal using a signal rescaler (signal conditioner) (transducer) such as this one....

click the link..... (Kele Controls)

As suggested you can reverse the signal to your valve in your Siemens firmware/software.... or you can add a hardware device if you know nothing about changing Siemens settings or programming.

Before I advise you of making any changes I should have asked you this question first. What is the application of your valve (what are you controlling)?

Kind of an Oops on my part....

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply. Shiffer that is exactly what I ended up finding for us. I wanted a normally open, should I say fail to open valve, but with the unit we are running I could not reverse the control signinal. I forget the part number off the top of my head but Kele has a unit that will reverse the inputs to the valve. Thanks again for your help. Bryan
