I am about to begin the process of replacing our 30 yr. old gas furnace in our 1200 sq ft bungalow in Kingston Ont. We already have Carrier central AC which freezes on a regular basis due to the low output of our Beach gas furnace.
Would love to get a Rheem modulating furnace ,but no one sells them in Kingston. Have read about the Heil brand and would love some pro opinons on them vs Trane,Lennox & Carrier which are main local brands.
Have not seen a lot of discussion of Heil on this site.
Thanks for your help.

Everyone has their own opinion. Heil is a simple furnace but with good warranty. If the heat exchanger fails in 10 years, you get a new furnace not just a heat exchanger. If you are looking high end, the H9MPV with a good control like a Vision Pro IAQ will do a great job. Key is finding a good installer, that's harder to do. 1200 sq ft house, don't let them oversize. Too many do, especially on smaller homes! Demand a heat loss calc be done.

You already have a Carrier A/C - why not a carrier system to match... your Carrier dealer should be able to match the systems, do a heat loss/gain. FYI... Carrier makes Heil, Keeprite, Tempstar---- Ad Nauseum, Ad Infinitum! :) ICP is the Co. name.

we put in at least 24 heil systems last year , not one callback. They offer the opt of the 5 or 10 year systems , as the car dealers say , the 10 year condenser is "fully loaded" w/ 2speed fan , self diagnostics , very quiet , and built like a tank , same for the furnaces. Great dealer support etc. I'm sure you know that they are also manuf. with the kenmore(Sears) label. Jack ps. The 10 year are only a little more than the 5 & worth every penny

Looking for right equipment can be hard and confusing, get 3 quotes and listen to what they tell you and who ever you seem to trust most is probably a good thing. If you are going Carrier make sure they are factory authorized dealer not just authorized to sell the equipment, there is a big difference.

LOL...
Your company may be what CFAD's are suppose to be.
But check the threads, you'll find that not all CFAD's are operating equally.
Wasn't condeming all of them.

Have read about Carrier's class action suit concerning their heat exchangers and am wary about buying a furnace from them.
The literature which I read on Carrier furnaces indicates that they are using aluminized steel and some type of plastic on their 1st & 2nd stage heat exchangers as opposed to other manufacturers who have stainless steel on both stages of their heat exchangers.
Will this lead to problems down the road?
Thanks to all for your information on this thread.

I am very happy with my Heil 80%. It came with the house. Only had to replace the "smart valve".

Carriers secondary heat exchangers have poly coating and they have had some units fail and they have always been the type two look after the customer so they agreed to pay labour on replacing them. It is 100% due poor
setting of the furnace leaning back from drain and condensate collecting in the secondary and along with not having your furnace maintain plugs up and the condensate is acidic and spills on to outside or over flows and starts to rust. These furnaces need maintanence.
