Pa Licensing

Hey good morning,
I am currently a journeyman and my license covers plumbing, heating and cooling. I also have my universal refrigerant license so my question is what other licenses are needed in the state of Pa besides my masters but i have to wait to take that yet. Do you need a special license for working on big boilers? I know if you want to be a welder on boilers you need an "S" stamp i think but i don't want to be involved in that. Any input would be great thanks.

PA is the home of Hacks-R-US and Joe's Gas and Go. We don't need no stinkin license.

No HVAC license here.
The pressure welding cert expires after 6 months if you don't do a welding job.
As long as you have your EPA 608 Universal Cert.(Its not a license)
Once you hang your shingle, you can work on window shakers or 1500 ton chillers as far as PA is concerned.

Diffrent states or local authorities have diffrent requirements. For example in the city of NY machine that contains a single 50 ton or above requires a mandatory operators license from the NYFD. Outside the city its not required and the city license is good for unlimited tonnage.
NJ has three seperate licenses based on tonnages. However you only need it if the refrigerant is a toxic, like ammonia! The license is provided by the state authority, not the cites.
My point is each area and state is diffrent.
My opinion is that soon each individual mechanic will have to hold some sort of individual license. Some states already have them in place, like Conneticut.The main problem is that these authorities cant come up with a single license that they all can agree on. Forming some sort of basic qualifications for all techs.
