I posted these in the pro section, but might be interesting to others as well.

Here we go, yes it rained, no we didn't stay dry!! Actually with all the sooty crap on the roof I am glad we got some moisture or it would have been a dustbowl!

This is the low man on the totem pole, he got to hook up the ductwork to the unit we had to get up and running today, dirt is thicker on the ceiling of the lab than it is in my garden!!

Yep, they do.. I am sure when the real train or Amtrak went by, they were proud to see them all lined up nicely along the tracks.

Did you remove the old units w/ the helicopter? How long did it take? I recently did 18 units and curb adaptors in about 1.5 hrs including pulling old units. It was quick and painless I love using a helo over a crane. Stress of setting units is over fast and no wasted time.

yes we ripped off 4 units the rest were new curbs and all, never had cooling in these areas.

Nice. What kind of building? That's a fair number of units...

It's an aluminum/cast iron foundry, they make pistons and sleeves for engines and industrial equipment.

Well, you guys did make the front page of the Graphic.. Good write up about it, and never thought about the FAA needed to be involved with this, and the time it took to get this cleared.

Nice to see an manufacturer that is not planning on moving to Mexico.

Pretty neat, I have yet to use a chopper, lots of cranes but no chopper.

This plant was close of leaving town, but I'm not sure where to... I think the City was able to work something out with them to make them stay..

Chad may know more about it than I do since I don't live in Lake City anymore.

I think it is a typical union facility, when the contract time rolls around they threaten to shut down and everyone loses their job. Keeps the union contracts in check and gives the corp. the poor me card to play.

I think they got some tax breaks and a grant from the city to keep the doors open this time. Just like everything else, cost of manufacturing goes up and the purse strings tighten.

You know, it just doesnt seem physicly possible for a chopper to fly, let alone pick up a load like that. Always amazes me every time I see it. Thanks for the pics

What did the chopper co. charge per hour?

Depending on what's involved in the job, sometimes the chopper is cheaper then the crane. We were debating what to use for a 20 ton RTU replacement at my building back in December.

$8500 for the job, lift took 45 minutes. They were on site for about 3 hrs.

Dang I thought I was doing something with the four units I set on a curb at a school in bamberg, but this takes the cake.
