Im getting ready to make a list of all my tools for the insurance company at work incase my van gets stolen or something. Since I dont have the receipts for alot of the stuff, whats the best way to document everything. Someone suggested videotaping the stuff, but I was going to just use a digital camera and photo it all. I was just wondering if the insurance companies give you more of a hassle if its still pics (thinking they are fake or something) vs a continious video tape.

i took pictures of everything i own seperate from the co's tools. i have them on my puter, laptop, and on a cd. most insurance co's will accept this as a form of proof of ownership. i also have pics of the tools in the truck, where is usually keep them so if the truck is just broken into we can cmpare before and after pics to see that something isn't in its place :) hope this never happens though, but its always good to prepare for it in the event something does happen :)

I've heard that a video is better when it comes to insurance although I personally think that pics are easier to work with since you can more easily email them. I suggest for more expensive tools including a shot of the model number.
