View Full Version : Voyager temp heat startup

Had to do a quick startup for a building that was under construction. Something bout drywallers needing heat in the building.

50 ton Voyager with elec heat and freq drive.

First-Can someone link me to the IOM for this unit m/n ted600

Unit was made in Jan of 2008. I have an IOM for a 2007 model but the IOM onsite was different with other pages of startup info and diagrams.

Second-We chose to attach a digital stat in the return air and wire it to the RTRM board...Well, that doesn't work too well without certain info that the factory tech graciously bestowed upon me. Had to convert the unit to a cv unit instead of a VAV type, temporarily.

Question, can you explain to me how that Baysensor connected to the RTAM with the setpoint potentiometers operate the machine. Kinda fuzzy to me with that operation.

Thank you all for the help.

Is the question too confusing? Lots of reads...no reply's...hmmm:(

Can anybody take some time out to help me understand why the unit will not run with the sensor that Trane provided...

Plugged the bullet sensor into the J6-1 and the J6-2 terms on the RTRM board..per trane instructions. Still no go...

Then...why does the drive configuration lock out when you change the parameter from multi-motors to AEO function...the drive is only controlling the blower motor...so, only one motor config...right???

Having real issues getting these Voyager units to run properly...I have switched them to CV units and have them controlled by a conventional stat...

These are TED600 and a TED480....So, can anybody give me a hand?

is this the right sensor? probably should be a BAYSENS016A. does it read accurately? page 50 of RT-SVD03E-EN has the resistance/DCV tables. start there. then again, maybe it is not the sensor that is causing the unit to not start. check your low voltage terminal board to see if a fire alarm/duct smoke detector is holding it out...or some other building automation dry contact...or if you have Tracer/Summit or whatever, it will over-ride just about anything.

the unit you have has a lot of options...so just the first couple of digits of the model number is not much to go on...we need a full model number (or serial number) to be of any real STARTING help.

as far as the drive is concerned...there are a whole lot of parameters in that drive to make it work properly and you have to enter/change the data in the correct order for it to work properly...and you need to go through it fully before start up...NEVER trust the defaults...i have not seen a single drive that was setup completely and accurately yet. (i think that most people think that the factory set them up properly before the unit left the factory. WRONG.) yet because there are so many parameters (and you can ruin a lot if it is not set up properly) i would suggest that you call tech support, your local Trane office or read the manual on how to set it up properly for your application. no disrespect to you...i just don't want you to ruin your stuff because i did not say something correctly or you mis-interpreted what i meant to say.

good luck.

I have spent time today reading the Reliatel book and it is telling me lots more info...These things are just not that easy to run in a temporary situation...

Looks like I am using the wrong sensor...Dang trane guys...

I will be in touch with the Trane people on Monday...

The vfd would lock up too...need some factory help there...

Don't know why this has become so frkn hard to do a start up on this thing...

i do not find them to be too difficult to perform a start up on them...occasionally one will pop up that has been wired up or piped up by people with 17 thumbs (you may have one)...but most of the time, not too bad. are you getting an alarm on the drive panel?

the sensor number that i mentioned is what i believe it is supposed to be...it may not be the correct or current number. the tables in the book are correct and the sensor should match.

good luck.

I think having them changed to a cv unit, with the tstat is throwing off my start up..I will go back and put it into vav mode and do the test jumper to do the start up...

The drive is not throwing alarms...that is another issue that I will have to look into on the job site...Can you find the tr1 drive Iom book? I have looked on the trane.com and have had no luck in finding the manual.

Thanks for the help.

i can't find anything on trane.com...it is probably there...just too difficult. the file is approx 3 MB, too large to post. put your email in your profile.

a hard copy came with the unit (should have).

good luck.

Can you post a link to the page...I have the Voyager book but they make a guide for the TR1...that is what I was wanting...good sleep inducing material!
