Went out and found an old mixing valve allowing hot water to get too hot. Diagnosed bad valve and sent quote. Should have also quoted new linkage and unions, too.

4 hour quote.....7.5 hours later, finally done.

ouch, just about double on the time. well at least its done and done right, thats what counts.

Good work!

The old pipes and unions were rotten too I bet. The worst is when you have to chop them out cuz the unions are seized.

7.5 hours??? What'd ya do Otto, work with 1 arm tied behind your back..:D:D

Should use cast fittings on heating water as opposed to mallable (not spelled correctly) just as the original installer did.

I don't know that one old 90 looks like a malleable (correct spelling) fitting.
With hot water cast iron is not necessary in my opinion, with steam it is a must.

well if its for fresh heated water shouldnt u be using copper or brass
