I have. They were orginally made by Ranco and Lennox multizones used them as did Trane.
I used to have a dial device that simulated a load to check on the staging. It was made by Ranco. Honeywell might still have them. Jumping the stages will show operation but won't tell anything about the control working. You really need to simulate the load.

can i simulate a load with resistor of a temperature value within the temperature sensors C7100B
