We've got a ADP unit htr. (FOAN200) that wasn't heating. Blw. mtr. was shot. Replaced it and the next day the new one over heated, opening internal limit on the motor. Replaced it again w/ the same results. This motor is direct drive, sealed, 1/8 HP, PSC, 2.7amps. running at 2.8amps @ 120volts, 60Hz. Readings @ mtr. leads while running. Ambient temp. is 75*. Checked cap., propeller pitch, dia. and rotation. Actual temp. of mtr. surf. is around 210* The unit is on its fourth mtr. within a 1 1/2 yr. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you changing the capacitor when you change the motor or just checking it? How are you checking the capacitor? Some times a weak capacitor can still test good with a meter. I recomend changing the capacitor each time you change a motor. Is the motor turning the right direction? I know it sounds dumb to ask considering all the other variables you checked but sometimes the simple stuff sneaks by.

Are you replacing an OEM motor with OEM or replacing it with a motor that matches the current specs of a possible already replaced motor that may be undersized or incorrect rpm? just a thought...

The cap. is provided w/ the motor. Permanently attached. It is OEM. And yes, the rotation is correct. Thanks for your interests...

sounds like an air over motor that isn't getting enough air over it
