Let me start by saying I am posting this here because my post count for pro is to low still. That being said...

Can anyone direct me to a unistrut clamp that can be used to clamp 4" copper with 1 1/2" insulation, "so essentially 7" o.d." directly to unistrut? I have already found my insulation style clevice hangers for the hanging pipe but have not seen a real appealing method for clamping directly to the unistrut. Is there a better way to go than just ordering a 7" unistut clamp? Quaility and looks are a factor so I'm looking for the "RIGHT" way. Thanks.... ; )

Is it already insulated if not how about cal-shields insulates that section and can be purchased in varying thickness to get a clean run with insulationthen purchase clamp to go around cal shield. Good luck if so like posted already cush clamps but may get some sweating if sat. temps low.

cush clamps and hydra-zorbs are essentially just isolating the copper from the clamp and strut with a preformed piece of rubber. I've seen those used and insulation tape (cork or whatever) formed around. they work very well and are fast to install. they just don't look that neat if insulation is required

I think the calcium silicates would work well for a nice finished look. we use those on chill water alot up here in the Bay Area. Down in Los Angeles they had never heard of them. not sure what that was about.

for your 4 1/8 copper plus 1 1/2 insulation, you can just order the cal sil like that and specify "with strut clamps"

"4 1/8 X 1 12 calcium silicate with strut clamp"

the vendor will size the clamps for you so they fit properly around the cal sil

if you put the strut clamp around the existing insulation (presumably armaflex or fiberglass) it will crush the insulation and look like crap. the cal sil insulates the pipe and gives a firm place for the clamp to secure to

good luck
