Has anyone ever replaced a condensate drain pan on a Carrier commercial unit?

M# 50TFQ005

I'm just wondering if we have to remove the evap coil or if we can just slide the drain pan out. The pan looks like it is really close to the coil. Thanks in advance.

your going to need 2 people, 1 to lift the coil and one to pull the pan out. the coil sits inside the pan about 1 inch. I had pulled the gas out, i thought i was going to have to cut the lines to move the coil but it ended up being much easier. the hardest part is locating all the screws and removing the rusted ones that hold the pan in place. to be honest i dont even know why they spent the money on this 20year old POS. we should have just sold them a new unit.

taking everything apart and pulling the gas out which i didnt need to do. lol

go ahead and make fun of the caulking job. all i had was high temp red and a storm was coming in, i HAD to rush. it seals, and thats what counts.
