Carrier Infinity t-stat has an unusual vertical configuration that may not cover the same area that our old Trane t-stat did. I want to cover the exposed unpainted area, since I have no matching paint. I've heard that Carrier offers a "goof-plate" with it's Infinity t-stat that is installed like a wide frame to cover the area of the old t-stat.

Does anyone have dimensions for the goof-plate and for Infinity t-stat itself?

Thanks

Its 18" wide, 12" high, and 3/4" think.

J/K. I don't know the dimensions.

Wow, how much damage was done by your old t-stat? I would think some spackling to cover old screw holes and some leftover paint in your garage from when you painted it last would be easier. I've never seen a "goof plate" for an Infinity, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Due to the vertical orientation of the Infinity UI, Carrier has the large back plate to cover the wider footprint of the old thermostat.

I'll have to remember that. We only put them on new construction, so we get a fresh wall. I think I would still rather fix the holes and repaint rather than put an ugly 6 in/sq chunk of plastic on the wall. To each their own. Just my preference.
